Passing the baton
a prototype for community sustainability

Sophomore Fall 2022

Passing the Baton is an idea for an initiative inspired by the documentary 'Dead Man's White Clothes', an insight into the magnitude of clothing waste that we produce and how mountains of discarded, polluting clothes lay to rot in Accra, Ghana. Passing the Baton is a community driven initiative, where every person chooses and belongs to their own sustainability circle- a dynamic where each person gives clothes they have either outgrown or overwork to another member of their circle and the person receiving the article can make their own revision to garment with regards to style and details. This will help increase the shelf life of a garment, promote less production of garments due to more frugal demands and also help to spread the message of sustainability.
